Ethernet Hub Connectivity

The Ethernet Serial Hub is similar in function to an RS-232 multiport card. But whereas a multiport card must be installed in your PC, the hub simply connects to your Ethernet network. The CIMCO DNC-Max software will "see" the hubs serial ports across your network even though they are physically located elsewhere.

The Ethernet Serial Hubs are available in 1, 2, 4, 8 or 16 port configuration and the CIMCO DNC-Max system can be expanded by simply adding another hub(s) to the system.

The Ethernet Serial Hub is located in a central area of the shop floor.  An RS232 cable is then run from the hub to each machine control.  The hub may be rack mounted along with a patch panel into a cabinet.  Each RS232 hub is then connected to your network and given a unique IP address.

Another option is to install 1 port Ethernet Serial Hub inside the control enclosure of each CNC machine.  The machine control’s RS232 port is then re-located inside the control and connected to the 1 port Ethernet Serial Hub.  Ethernet cable is then run to the machine location in conduit.  This provides for a clean installation and provides for the future conection of ethernet based machine controls.

Using remote Ethernet Serial Hubs makes the cabling of the system easier by reducing the distance the cables need to be run.
